The verdict

A full-length mat with red and near-infrared LEDs and a raised neck section, for $899. It may well be a fine way to lie under red light for twenty minutes. We hold it for three reasons: the headline irradiance does not survive arithmetic, the marketing claims more than the research does, and the "60-Day Money Back" badge meets a restocking fee of up to 20 percent in the returns policy.

What you are buying

The mat. 73 by 33 inches (the description also says 71.4 by 33.0), 3.8 kg, neoprene and leather. It plugs in; there is no battery. In the box: the mat, a controller, a power adapter, a power cord and goggles.

The light. 1,436 LED diodes with three chips each: 2,872 chips at 660nm and 1,436 at 850nm. The page's own FAQ says the red chips are 630nm, while the spec table says 660nm. Steady, 10Hz and 40Hz pulse modes, five brightness levels, and a timer from 10 to 90 minutes. Power draw is not published.

Price. $899 on lumyhealth.com, checked October 27, 2026. The page shows $1,849 beside it, which is not a price anyone pays. A 15 percent checkout discount was running on the day we read it, bringing it to $764.15.

The irradiance problem

Lumy publishes "85 to 120 mW/cm2" and "120 mW/cm2 at 0 inches". Zero inches means at the face of the LED, which is not how the category measures (most brands publish at 6 inches), and no measuring party is named. Across the whole mat the number cannot hold. 73 by 33 inches is about 15,500 cm2. At 120 mW/cm2 everywhere, the mat would put out about 1,860 W of light. A standard 15 amp, 120 volt household circuit supplies 1,800 W, and LEDs turn only part of their power into light. So the figure can only be a reading at a single LED, not the dose your body receives. We say so rather than reprint it.

Where it wins

It covers the whole back of the body in one session, with two common wavelengths, simple controls, a timer and goggles in the box. It costs less than most full-body panels.

Where it misses

No published wattage, and no measured irradiance at a normal distance. Spec contradictions: 630 against 660nm, and two sizes. Percentage claims on the product page with no study cited. Returns that cost up to 20 percent plus shipping despite the badge. A one-year, replacement-only warranty.

Regulatory status

Lumy lists its devices under FDA product code ILY, "Lamp, infrared, therapeutic heating", a Class II category that is exempt from 510(k) review. FDA registration is a facility listing, not a finding that a device works, and the classification is for heating lamps. It says nothing about the skin, pain or recovery claims on the product page. There is no 510(k) clearance to cite.

Company basis

A one-year replacement warranty from the date you receive the mat, replacement only; after that, parts with an inspection fee. Returns not caused by a defect carry a 10 percent restocking fee unopened or 20 percent opened, and you pay return shipping, which conflicts with the "60-Day Money Back" badge on the product page. Read from Lumy's warranty and refund policy pages, October 27, 2026. Company moves to Solid if Lumy brings its policy in line with the badge.

What voids it

No proof of purchase, unauthorized disassembly, repairs or modifications, misuse or negligence, long-term storage in harsh conditions, and cosmetic wear are not covered. Read from Lumy's warranty policy page, October 27, 2026.

Who it is for

Someone who wants full-body red light at home for less than a panel, and is happy to judge the effect for themselves rather than rely on the numbers on the page. Before you buy, read how to choose red light therapy. The HigherDOSE Red Light Face Mask Meets the Standard for the face.
