We stand behind every system we carry,  and we understand that purchasing professional-grade recovery equipment is a significant investment. This policy outlines how returns, refunds, and exchanges are handled across our catalog.

Because we work with multiple manufacturers and suppliers, return windows, restocking terms, and eligibility may vary by product. Specific return terms are listed on each product page. The guidelines below apply unless otherwise noted.


Eligibility

To be eligible for a return, the following conditions must be met:

  • The return request is submitted within the return window specified on the product page (typically 30 days from delivery).
  • The item is in its original condition — unused, uninstalled, and in its original packaging with all included accessories, manuals, and hardware.
  • You have your order confirmation or proof of purchase.

Items that have been installed, used, modified, or damaged after delivery are not eligible for a standard return. If you believe your item arrived defective or damaged, see the section below.


How to Initiate a Return

All returns must be authorized before shipping. To start the process:

  2. Include your order number and the reason for your return.
  3. Our team will confirm eligibility, provide a Return Authorization (RA) number, and share return shipping instructions specific to your product.

Do not ship items back without an RA number. Unauthorized returns may not be processed.


Restocking Fees

Due to the size, weight, and specialized nature of professional recovery equipment, restocking fees may apply:

  • Sealed and unopened items returned in original packaging: No restocking fee.
  • Opened or unpacked items returned in unused, resalable condition: A restocking fee of up to 15% of the purchase price may apply.
  • Installed or used items: Not eligible for return under standard policy. Contact us to discuss options on a case-by-case basis.

Restocking fees, where applicable, will be deducted from your refund. Some products may carry manufacturer-specific restocking terms — these are noted on the product page.


Return Shipping

  • Defective or damaged items: The Modern Recovery covers return shipping costs. We will arrange freight pickup or provide a prepaid shipping label at no charge.
  • Change-of-mind returns (non-defective): The customer is responsible for return shipping costs. For large or freight-shipped items, we can help coordinate carrier logistics, but shipping charges will be the customer's responsibility.

All items must be securely packaged to prevent damage during transit. We recommend using the original packaging whenever possible. Items damaged during return shipping due to inadequate packaging may not be eligible for a full refund.


Refunds

Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

  • Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7–10 business days of inspection.
  • Refund amounts reflect the purchase price minus any applicable restocking fees and, for non-defective returns, minus original shipping charges.
  • Depending on your bank or credit card provider, it may take an additional 5–10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.

Damaged or Defective Items

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, contact us within 48 hours of delivery at [returns@themodernrecovery.com] with:

  • Your order number
  • Photos of the damage or defect
  • Photos of the packaging condition

We will work with the manufacturer to resolve the issue promptly — whether that means a replacement, repair, or full refund. You will not be charged restocking fees or return shipping for items that arrive damaged or defective.


Exchanges

We handle exchanges as a return and new order. If you'd like to swap for a different model or configuration, initiate a return per the process above, and our team will help you place a new order. This ensures the fastest turnaround and accurate pricing.


Cancellations

  • Before shipment: Orders cancelled before shipping is arranged are fully refundable with no fees.
  • After shipment: Once an item has shipped or is in transit, it cannot be cancelled. You may initiate a return once it has been delivered.
  • Custom or built-to-order items: Some products are manufactured or configured to order and may not be eligible for cancellation once production has begun. These terms are noted at the time of purchase.
