Shipping policy

These policies reflect our current framework and may be updated as we finalize partnerships and logistics. Last updated March 2026.

Overview

The Modern Recovery ships professional-grade recovery systems across the continental United States. Because our catalog includes large, heavy, and high-value equipment — cold plunges, infrared saunas, contrast therapy systems, and related accessories — shipping methods, timelines, and costs vary significantly by product. This policy explains what to expect.

Shipping Methods

We use a combination of shipping methods depending on the size, weight, and destination of your order:

Standard Parcel Shipping — For smaller accessories, replacement parts, and lightweight items. Shipped via USPS, UPS, or FedEx.

Freight / LTL (Less Than Truckload) — For large recovery systems such as cold plunges, saunas, and full contrast therapy setups. These items ship on pallets via freight carrier and require curbside, threshold, or white-glove delivery depending on the product and your location.

White-Glove Delivery — Available for select products and regions. Includes inside delivery, placement in a room of your choice, and packaging removal. White-glove service, where available, is noted on the product page and may carry an additional charge.

The shipping method for each product is listed on its product page. If you have questions about delivery logistics for a specific item, contact us at hello@themodernrecovery.com before placing your order.

Shipping Costs

Shipping costs vary based on product size, weight, delivery method, and destination. Due to the oversized nature of many of our products, shipping charges can be substantial.

How costs are displayed:

  • Some products include shipping in the listed price (noted on the product page as "Free Shipping" or "Shipping Included").

  • For products where shipping is calculated separately, the cost will be displayed at checkout based on your delivery address.

  • For freight-shipped items, a shipping quote may be provided after your order is placed. In these cases, we will confirm the total shipping cost with you before processing. You will have the option to cancel if the freight cost exceeds your expectations.

Factors that affect freight costs:

  • Distance from the manufacturer or distribution warehouse to your delivery address

  • Residential vs. commercial delivery address (residential deliveries typically carry a surcharge)

  • Liftgate service (required if you do not have a loading dock or forklift at the delivery location)

  • Inside or white-glove delivery

  • Remote or limited-access delivery locations

We work directly with freight carriers and manufacturers to negotiate competitive rates, but we are transparent about the fact that shipping large recovery equipment is not inexpensive. We will always communicate costs clearly before you are charged.

Processing and Delivery Timelines

Standard parcel items: Typically ship within 2–5 business days and arrive within 5–10 business days, depending on your location.

Freight and oversized items: Processing and delivery timelines vary significantly by product and manufacturer. Most in-stock freight items ship within 5–15 business days. Total delivery time — from order to arrival — typically ranges from 2 to 6 weeks depending on the product, manufacturer lead time, and your location.

Built-to-order or custom-configured items: Some products are manufactured or assembled after your order is placed. These items may have lead times of 4–10 weeks or longer. Expected lead times are noted on the product page, and our team will provide an estimated delivery window in your order confirmation.

All delivery timelines are estimates. We do not guarantee delivery dates. Delays may result from manufacturer production schedules, carrier routing, weather, customs (for internationally sourced products), or other factors outside our control.

We will communicate proactively if your order is delayed beyond the estimated window. You may contact us at any time at hello@themodernrecovery.com for a status update.

Freight Delivery — What to Expect

If your order ships via freight carrier, here is what to expect at delivery:

Before delivery:

  • The freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. Please provide a valid phone number at checkout.

  • Confirm whether your delivery location has a loading dock, forklift, or clear ground-level access. If not, liftgate service will be required.

At delivery:

  • Inspect all packaging thoroughly before signing the carrier's delivery receipt.

  • If you see any visible damage to the packaging — dents, punctures, crushed corners, water damage — note it clearly on the delivery receipt and take photos before signing.

  • If damage is severe, you may refuse the delivery entirely. Contact us immediately and we will coordinate with the carrier and manufacturer.

  • Signing the delivery receipt without noting damage may limit our ability to file a freight claim on your behalf.

After delivery:

  • Unpack and inspect the product within 48 hours of delivery.

  • If you discover concealed damage (damage not visible on the exterior packaging), contact us within 48 hours at returns@themodernrecovery.com with your order number, photos of the damage, and photos of the packaging. We will work with the manufacturer and carrier to resolve the issue.

Shipping Destinations

We currently ship to the continental United States (lower 48 states).

Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, APO/FPO addresses, and international destinations are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at hello@themodernrecovery.com with your delivery address and the product you are interested in, and we will provide a shipping quote and timeline if delivery is available.

Order Tracking

Once your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information. For freight shipments, your tracking number may come from the freight carrier directly, and tracking updates may be less frequent than standard parcel shipments.

If you have not received tracking information within the expected processing window, or if your tracking has not updated in several days, contact us and we will follow up with the carrier on your behalf.

Address Accuracy

Please ensure your shipping address is complete and accurate at the time of order. For freight deliveries, an incorrect address can result in redelivery fees, storage charges, or return-to-sender freight costs — all of which are the customer's responsibility.

If you need to change your shipping address after placing an order, contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate changes before the item ships, but cannot guarantee address updates once a shipment is in transit.

Lost or Damaged Shipments

If your shipment is lost in transit or arrives damaged:

  • Parcel shipments: Contact us within 14 days of the expected delivery date. We will file a claim with the carrier and arrange a replacement or refund.

  • Freight shipments: Follow the inspection and documentation steps above. Contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos and a description of the damage. We handle all freight claims on your behalf.

We will work to resolve lost or damaged shipment issues as quickly as possible, but please note that freight claims can take 2–4 weeks to process depending on the carrier and manufacturer.
