The two chilled, self-contained plunges we rate, and the clearest trade-off in the cold lane: the better machine, or the longer warranty. Both Meet the Standard. Neither is our Editor's Pick, because nothing in cold is yet.

The short answer

Buy the Plunge All-In for the machine. It reaches 37°F, manages its own water with ozone and double filtration, and takes the top mark on Does one job, with Build one step below because coverage depends on genuine Plunge parts and a filter change at least every 30 days. You are buying a flagship on a one-year warranty, and you should know that going in.

Buy the Renu Cold Stoic 2.0 for the coverage and the look. Five years on the body is the longest in the cold lane, and it is built to sit somewhere visible. It chills to 39°F rather than 37°F and costs more, which is why Value sits at Solid.

Where they really differ

Warranty is the whole story. On a product with a pump, a chiller and hundreds of pounds of water, the gap between one year and five is the biggest difference between these two. Both cover the chiller for one year; Renu sells an extended chiller plan.

Two degrees. 37°F against 39°F matters if you chase a number. It is irrelevant if you are building a habit. For recovery after exercise, the best dose data found two optima, and colder was not automatically better (Wang 2025).

Water care. Ozone plus double filtration on the Plunge is the most serious water management in this lane, and it is the difference between draining often and draining rarely.

Which one is for you

Choose the Plunge All-In if
  • You want the most complete machine and the coldest setting
  • Low water maintenance matters more than coverage
  • You would rather spend $7,990 than $9,999
Choose the Renu Cold Stoic 2.0 if
  • Warranty length is what you optimise for
  • The plunge will sit somewhere you can see it
  • You weight company support over peak cold
