A rigid, wood-clad plunge with a Balboa chiller that also heats, on a standard 120V outlet. It meets the Standard, with the usual one-year cold plunge warranty.
The verdict
A one-person molded acrylic tub in a heat-treated hemlock shell, with a built-in Balboa Clim8zone chiller and heater (37°F to 104°F), UV sanitation and a 20-micron filter, for $6,999. It plugs into a standard GFCI-protected 120V outlet, and the chiller comes from Balboa, one of the big names in spa equipment. The warranty is one year on the tub and the chiller, the same as most plunges we rate. It meets the Standard; it is priced like the rigid plunges it competes with, not below them.
What you are buying
The tub. Molded acrylic liner in a heat-treated Canadian hemlock exterior, 37 by 57 by 44 inches, built-in non-slip steps, 104 gallons maximum, one person. 360 pounds dry and 1,227 pounds full. Faux leather insulated lid with a child lock. Drip drain for condensation and a collapsible drain with a ¾ inch garden hose connection.
The chiller. A built-in Balboa Clim8zone Deluxe dual chiller and heater, 1.5 HP, 37°F to 104°F, rated at 45 dB maximum, with UV sanitation and a 20-micron PET filter. Ambient operating range 32°F to 110°F. A Wi-Fi controller is a $1,000 upgrade.
Power. 120V, 60Hz, 12A maximum, into a standard household outlet that is GFCI protected. Redwood does not ask for a dedicated circuit on this page; at 12A we would give it one anyway.
The price. $6,999 (Standard controller) or $7,999 (Wi-Fi), checked October 23, 2026. Redwood takes about $700 off when it is bought with one of its saunas.
Before you order: four checks
- Outlet: a GFCI-protected 120V outlet within reach, no extension cord. A dedicated circuit is the safer choice at 12A.
- Winter: it cannot run below 32°F. You must winterize it when temperatures drop below freezing, and freeze damage is not covered. In a Utah or Midwest winter, that means an indoor or garage spot, or months off.
- Floor: 1,227 pounds full, before anyone gets in. Level, solid ground.
- Delivery: curbside freight in a wooden crate. Plan help to move it.
Where it wins
A rigid acrylic tub, so Build is not capped the way inflatables are. The chiller is a Balboa unit, from a long-established spa equipment maker, which should make parts easier to find than for a house-brand chiller. That matters most for the part most likely to fail; we have asked Redwood whether parts are sold to owners. It heats as well as cools, so it can double as a small hot soak. UV sanitation is built in, and it runs on a standard outlet with no 240V work.
Where it misses
No winter use. Below 32°F it has to be winterized, and freeze damage is excluded.
Safety listing: none published. Redwood publishes no ETL, UL or CSA listing for the plunge or the chiller. As of October 2026 none of the cold plunge brands we rate publishes one, so it does not change the score.
Parts and filters are not spelled out. Redwood lists a 20-micron PET filter but not the cartridge size, price or change interval, or whether chiller parts are sold to owners. That keeps Build at Strong rather than Exceptional.
Only two owner reviews on the product page, and one Trustpilot reviewer describes being asked to repair an Alaskan plunge themselves. One review is not a pattern, but it is the part of the record we would watch.
Company basis
The term. One year from delivery on the tub and on the chiller system, per Redwood's product page and its cold plunge tub and chiller warranty pages, checked 2026-10-23. Claims go to support@redwoodoutdoors.com with proof of purchase, model, order details and photos or video.
What voids it. Use below 32°F (freeze damage), freight damage, improper storage, misuse, and not following the manual. Standard conditions for a chiller, so they do not lower the score.
Track record. Founded in 2019 in the Seattle area, showrooms in four cities including Salt Lake City. Trustpilot about 4.5 of 5 on roughly 300 reviews (October 2026), invited reviews, replies to almost all negative ones.
Who it is for
Someone who wants a rigid, good-looking plunge on a standard outlet, will keep it above freezing or indoors in winter, and likes the option of a warm soak. For other rigid plunges we rate, compare the Plunge All-In (Gen 2) and Renu Vero; on a budget, see the Plunge Chill 1HP.
